A very visceral recording. I can hear why you wanted to include it. Maybe establish the space/location for a while before cross-fading to the truck? (Assuming the deck was rolling before). Maybe let the recording run on a tad longer after the truck has passed? Loud sounds sound louder next to soft ones. Would this juxtaposition encourage the listener to hear the (bird) warning calls on his/her own?
Do you enjoy some qualities of this recording? It seems so.
What sounds of the residential neighborhood? What mothers? These, along with the title, "transition zone," seem tangental.
